Minneapolis, MN - When Lebron James signed with Cleveland on July 11th, Timberwolves fans went crazy assuming that the Cavaliers would immediately fold and offer 2014's first overall selection Andrew Wiggins in a deal that would land Kevin Love in Cleveland with Lebron. Six days later and the rumors have continued to swing the other direction with Dan Gilbert not yet ready to part ways with Wiggins. Until today...
Reports out of the Cleveland area today are claiming that Gilbert has changed his mind and Andrew Wiggins may very well be on the trading block with the Wolves in hopes to land Kevin Love.
Cleveland Cavaliers now willing to include Wiggins in Kevin Love trade offer http://t.co/X5I1fpcNaM— Bob Finnan (@BobCavsinsider) July 17, 2014
Bob Finnan, Cleveland News Herald, is reporting that the most recent deal being considered by the Cavs would include Andrew Wiggins, power forward Anthony Bennett and a future first-round pick.
Standing at 6'8" tall, Wiggins seems to have a very high ceiling and has been turning heads already in the Las Vegas Summer League. Averaging 13.7 points and 3.0 rebounds through three games, the guys they affectionately call "The Lebron James of Canada" has been wowing fans with highlight reel dunks.
The inclusion of Bennett in the deal would give the Wolves the top overall selections from the past two NBA Drafts, however the assumption that Cleveland will be successful this season bumps their first round pick that will be included towards the second-half of the opening round.
With Cleveland upping the ante to go after Kevin Love, this could also prompt the Golden State Warriors, who are also rumored to have interest, to throw Klay Thompson into a package they would be offering.
Either way, if this report is true, the Wolves could be getting loads of young talent to add to the stable already occupied by Ricky Rubio and Zach LaVine.
